The idea behind the illustration is that the main character, the girl which is depicted finds herself in a peculiar situation of finding a misterious key, without knowing what door that key opens. Deep in the story, she discovers that she IS the key to a secret society which she inherited from her late mother. That is why the key itself is not the focus of this piece but her face, and the key is merely there to support the story.
